Impossibility versus Possibility. Go for the good one!
Imagine this; a wicked witch named ‘Impossible‘ casts a spell and watches with glee this unfolding scenario:
Although it is winter the weather looks promising.
Man gets kind of inspired and says; “Hey Woman, shall we pack the van for a long weekend and have some time out.”
Woman looks up and instead of jumping up with joy. speaks firmly; “Impossible. Grow up will you, where do you think I get the time, the money and the energy from to drive around in your van in winter and with these petrol prices to boot. It is just impossible; I have too much to do, don’t you?”
Although somewhat deflated Man is not ready to give up yet and tries again; “What if we look at what needs to be done and lets divide the tasks. You always do like going away once we’ve made the effort.”
Woman does remember previous good times and does make an effort to go along. In her haste to get everything done she is too impatient to sit down to discuss doing things together. In her funny way she thinks she is the only one who can do certain things and delegating is impossible. Man has given up talking to her about that and ignores her, knowing it is impossible to have her see it any other way. They do their separate things and are feeling the stresses and strains of doing everything on their own and getting ready by Friday morning. Woman frets, Man is irritated and loses interest in offering any help ever again.
On Friday morning things are strained but the van gets packed and off they go, later than hoped though. She always knew it was impossible to get ready that early anyway.
It takes them till Saturday afternoon to enjoy each other’s company and to get out of their respective irritableness.
They end up enjoying the rest of their time away and they come home refreshed. But as there was not much talking going on, they missed out on sharing their innovative thinking and invigorating each other with ideas. They are resigned to the fact that it is impossible to do things differently anyway.
Once home it is business as usual.
Perceived obstacles and problems that are ‘impossible to solve’ are once again wearing them out and emptying their love tank, making them feel uninspired and tired.
The good witch called ‘Possible‘ feels annoyed to see these lovely people struggle with so many impossibilities preventing them from enjoying life and each other. After casting her spell, she smiles while she watches this unfold:
Although it is winter, the weekend weather looks promising.
Man gets excited and says; “Hey Woman, shall we pack the van and have some time out.”
Woman jumps up, embraces Man and says “yes”, what a wonderful idea, I love to spend some quiet time in nature with you. However how can we make it possible? I have writing and errands to do before we can go and then I have to organize the food. What about you?”
They discuss what needs to be done and how they can coordinate action to make it possible and thus preventing any stresses and strains from building up.
During the preparation, Man smiles at Woman in anticipation of their wonderful time together and Woman hums while she works.
On Friday morning they made it possible to pack the van in record time and are on the road before you know it, heading for a wonderful long weekend in God’s beautiful creation full of possibilities.
On their return they are full of innovative ideas and bursting with energy to get to work on their exciting projects they see possible.
They are creative, positive and uplifting and they ooze enjoyment.
They are generous, have time for the important things in life -each other and other people and making amazing adventures possible.
They know about possibilities and solutions instead of impossibilities and problems.
Their way of life fills their love tanks to overflowing; they have enough of the most precious energy called LOVE to fly through life making the impossible possible while having this amazing relationship that feeds and inspires them and everyone else who is around.
The nasty witch ‘Impossible‘ of course found it impossible to do something about this nasty turn of events.
She had to watch Man and Woman live joyfully ever after, creating more possibilities than even the good witch ‘Possible‘ could ever have imagined.

Excellent blog! I love the witch Possible. I recognize how I am holding back sometimes in communicating and feel I have to do things on my own. It doesn’t create harmony. Here’s to communicating and sharing! Love Bertie
This has to be your best blog ever! It so stimulates the imagination to creating the pictures and images. Congratulations Go Wilma!!!
@Bertie. Great you can relate to it. I soo got to see how I can kill off possibilities, I was such an ‘aha’ for me AND now I can see it in other people too how they keep limiting themselves. Thanks Bertie
@Mary. Oh, you make me all warm inside, thank you.
And isn’t it lovely to see possibilities. Possibility is for me comparible to what Anastasia calls ‘co-creation with joy for all from its contemplation’.
Wilma, this is awesome!! This is a great example of how the world works – the law of opposites, for impossible to exist, possible needs to exist. Impossible and Possible are at different ends of the SAME continuum, and for me it seems a lot more empowering to stand at the ‘Possible’ end to create solutions! So maybe take this to another level, all the things we think are completely impossible, we should think again…we may not have the skills or technology right now, but it might just be possible in years to come – so the saying goes “anything is possible”. Well done on a fantastic blog Wilma, love your work!
It’s all about being Solutions Focused. Love the witch analagy – great blog!

@Monica. Well said how things are on a continuum, with possible on the other end of impossible.
It has been interesting to see how soon we go and stay at the impossible end though and as a result miss out.
It is so much more fun and uplifting to go to the possible end and not bursting balloons all the time.
@Graham. You got it in one. Where there is a problem there is a solution for the ones who are really looking.
Wilma.
Wondrous story, very well told !
This line is the pièce de résistance:
“The nasty witch ‘Impossible‘ of course found it impossible to do something about this nasty turn of events.”

Lovely, Wilma. You’re so inspiring. Just one question, though. Who wore the ruby slippers?
@Alex, I love it when people find the jewel. Thanks for being such an observant reader.
Love Wilma
Kath, you know that that is an impossible question
Bravo Wilma …. Inspiring, witty and straight talking.
Thanks for reminding me that I always have a choice… possible or impossible. It’s that easy. I love it!
Hey Ann-Marie, Incredible as it seems I sometimes forget I have a choice. However it is so much fun when you do get that you can have a choice. Then it is like a buffet; what shall I choose……no, no, I won’t go there, choice is delicious
I like how Monica referred to technology and the future of when discussing possibility. We can look at the past also to get an indication of how we as human beings operate around the age old debate of what is and isn’t possible. Entrepreneurs and inventors alike have been removed from the great academics halls on countless occasions because they held onto the notion of possibility while in the presence of laughing crowds. One feels more inclined to listen to the so called “crackpot” amongst the academics sometimes. They are not afraid to make mistakes, their minds are open, excited and full of possibility. They challenge what we currently understand to be “universally” correct and whats impossible. The great educated ones in the impossible arena do not dare to dream. They seem rather preoccupied with defending some handed down ideal that exists as so called truth. And all the other sheep in the paddock go baaah in agreement apart from our crackpot who is of course a black sheep.
I think its kinda funny really that we take so much for granted in terms of whats possible and whats not but every now and then theres a medical marvel or a new world record that takes place. I believe these events serve to remind us that anything truly is possible. For example many of mans inventions were generated firstly from thought, then laughed at, and then created. The laughing then stopped.
Maybe its that crucial element of disbelief from others that drives whats possible to be created. Theres nothing more infuriating yet driving for a passionate person to be told something can’t be done.
Thank you Wilma it made me smile. Love to you and John,
Jackie XXX
@Blair. Hear, hear, well said, may all of us be crackpots…..and live happily ever after
Hey Jackie, wonderful to hear from you this way.
I trust you and Tim are making things possible in Oz?
Love back to you and Tim, Wilma
Yeah true Wilma, we are all crackpots underneath quite possibly hehe. Great to be back on your site by the way.
@Blair, great to have you back too.
