Your natural compassion and empathy, which is so loveable about you, and makes you a terrific blog writer, made your heart swell. And then your head took over and started freaking out. This is where the personal development movement meets the social responsibility movement, and they fight like cat and dog. I think you hit on it when you say that you can hold people in your heart, and get on with your day. Being immobilized by world pain won't help, but being oblivious is subhuman. Well done.
