Opportunities and possibilities? Do you see them, grab them?

Are you able to grab worthwhile opportunities with both hands and run with them or do you detect resistance to go for it?

Do you see possibilities that could add tremendous value to your life or are you blind to them?

In 2008 I declared that I wanted to eat flowers, after discovering the value of good, fresh real food and seeing that I no longer needed to live in the city.
Since I was young I loved nature, but growing up in a city I very seldom had a chance to be in it. My move to New Zealand was because of its greenness, but unfortunately I ended up living in a city.
But now my time had come. My daughters were doing their own thing, our business moved to online learning and here it was.
A possibility and an opportunity to finally live in nature and grow my own food!

When I write this down it’s just so obvious that that is what I wanted and that I should go for it.
But I never make anything in my life that simple.
Because once the wheels started turning and things began to happen, I remember those moments that I wanted to sop and put the brakes on.
Hard to believe, but I did.

You see, I loved the house we lived in.
When we moved in it was in pretty good shape but it had carpet and all the walls were colorless.
I love color and John loves wooden floors.
So I saw a possibility to make the place really beautiful with painted walls and John knew he had the opportunity to lift up the carpet to expose the wood underneath.
But seeing the possibility didn’t mean that I was going to grab it straight away.
At first I was actually stopped.
Why remove good carpet, why paint walls, why go through all that trouble?
I am so glad that we pressed the over ride button, ignored the resistance and went ahead anyway.
The next thing I knew, the carpet was gone, the walls were painted and I was living in a house I really, really loved.

From there on it seemed like a small step to attack the kitchen, tear it out and design the kitchen of my dreams.
While renovating I discovered I had a flare for design and as John loves to play along, I wanted to create a design that included all the features I so loved in a kitchen.
A wide, long wooden bench with lots of drawers to store my bottles and containers.

When the kitchen was finished I adored the house even more and I had such a great time living there, even if it wasn’t a particularly large property in an affluent neighborhood.
That didn’t matter, I LOVED it.
By grabbing opportunities and possibilities relating to our home, our quality of life increased and we got enormous value out of it. We’d created something really special that gave us tremendous joy.

And as life never stays the same and nothing is permanent, the possibility of living in the country came along and once again there were moments that I wasn’t too keen to grab that one either and give up our lovely house.

Luckily I got over myself AND my objections and I realized that taking opportunities and possibilities added huge value to my life.
Most of the things I worried about or feared never came to fruition anyway.
I soon saw that this move to the country was one step closer to eating the flowers and living the life I desired.
The house looked great, had positive energy so we’d have no problems renting it out to people who would take care of it. What was I worrying about anyway!

Having the ability and skill to see what’s available, to create new possibilities and really go for it has not been a strong point in the past. I am so thrilled that has all changed.
The more I’m exposed to opportunity, the more I grab it whole heartedly, the easier it becomes and the objections and fears fade into the background.
I am convinced that it is this ability that has made my life so wonderful.
I just have to look at that kitchen and what was achieved.
I just have to look at where I now live in a glorious Garden of Eden and I can’t wait for what is still to come.
Bring it on, I say . . .
