How to fight worry or scarcity, the enemies of life.
How can I have a 4hour workweek when even 24/7 doesn’t seem long enough to get everything done?
How can I go on holiday when there is never enough time or money?
How can you have a baby when the time and place is never right?
How, oh how, oh how do I do it?
By choosing an explanation about my life that makes me feel joyful in the ‘NOW’!
What ????????
By choosing an explanation that makes me feel joyful instantly!
To get what I mean, I need your cooperation.
I need your full attention.
It took me a loooong time to get it, so don’t expect that this is easy to understand.
It is however fundamental for manifesting your desires, creating an amazing life and getting the most out of your structures!
Don’t believe me or get what I am on about?
To make my point let’s talk about how changing the explanation of my reality around money and time improved things hugely!
Money and time are closely related and both are mostly perceived as scarce in our explanations, right?
How many of you are NOT happy financially and stop doing things because you feel you cannot afford it or can’t take the time out to do it.
If money or time makes you feel worried, angry, depressed it is because you have an explanation that is making you feel this way.
If you really want something and lack of money or time stops you, it is your explanation about your money/time circumstances that stops you. If talking or thinking about money makes you grumpy or worried or upset, your explanation needs changing!
It is NOT about the money or time in itself.
And you will notice that there will be times when you won’t allow your explanation to change to a different one.
I even dare to say that most of the time we are not prepared to let go of our money/time explanations even if they are causing us a lot of grief.
We will even get angry when other people try to give us another explanation.
Hard to swallow. I agree.
But look at this.
Six years ago John wanted me to quit my job as he felt the time had come when I would be more valuable in our business than bringing in a wage.
He also didn’t like the fact that I often came home grumpy complaining about stupid management decisions.
My explanation at the time was that we needed my wage.
I wanted to work for at least another 5 or 6 years so we could quickly pay off the mortgage, save and then I would come and help in the business.
His explanation was that it wasn’t worth waiting that long, my time and my life were more valuable.
His explanation is that you never work just for the money, you only spend your time where you choose to, you only do what you enjoy and focus on adding value.
I thought he was crazy!
I honestly couldn’t accept his explanation.
I argued and fought it tooth and nail.
However I did see that he had a good life and I was the one having a hard time.
It helped that he was very clear about his explanation about money and time while I could see mine had flaws.
So eventually I trusted him and gave in.
It meant though that he had to repeat his explanation about money and time at least once a month for many, many years as I still couldn’t get my head around his explanation.
But the proof is there.
I do have a great life and I am so much better off.
I am joyful and wonderful things happen in my life with great ease.
Life is no struggle and we bring the best out in each other and a lot of things get done.
I have come to see how people and partners in particular struggle with each other’s explanation.
If one chooses a joyful explanation which allows for a holiday and the other chooses an explanation of “we can’t because of lack of money or time”, it is hard for the joyful one to hang on to the holiday.
Unfortunately the less joyful explanation has somehow the most power and often wins.
Being joyful around another person who seems to be weighed down by worry almost feels callous.
At least that is how I felt in the past with my ex husband.
So people miss out on regular holidays, time out together, having babies or going for what they really want, because the one with the worrying explanation wins hand over fist most of the time.
Black seems to cover the light.
I am very grateful that I am no longer trapped in an explanation that doesn’t serve me, although I have to say that it took some doing.
John’s light hasn’t been dimmed by my black explanations; his has made my ones lighter.
As a consequence of course my life has become lighter and a lot more wonderful things are happening.
What about your explanations?
Are yours in the ‘joyful and generating a wonderful life’ camp or are they in the ‘doom and gloom and stopping life’ camp?

Hi Wilma,
This is definitely “the big one” that I struggle with myself!
When you said…
“How can I have a 4hour workweek when even 24/7 doesn’t seem long enough to get everything done?”
“How can I go on holiday when there is never enough time or money?”
… you read my mind word-for-word! The cost is enjoying life right now as much as Rebecca and I possibly could be.
Working = “too much”
Living = “not enough”
Given that I always find myself “building” and “re-thinking and re-buildng” my business and investing structures, I am constantly in a struggle with these two arguments. There’s always far too much to do, and they are never fully optimised or giving me the return I expect/know they can give.
My learning in this area is that “simplify, systemise and call on team mates to help out” can be a great way to lighten the load in those areas. Practicing those things is taking some time to become engrained in my approach to things, but I’m working on it… as well there can be some friction in cases where team mates have a different approach or priorities/timeframes/plans for the project than I do, or are “taken out of the game” by events outside of their control, leaving a key role unfilled.
I would suggest that this is the “the penultimate code to crack” for 85% of business owners, and certainly 99.99% of “small business” people. Cracking it comes with the practiced and consistent application of everything covered by L&U and LIA… which is really the beauty of what Trek Education offers the World.
Love your post, but I’m still stuck with “what to do?” other than to keep applying and practicing L&Y and LIA. (and the fact that this shows up instantly accompanied by the feeling “ugh, that seems almost like too much hard work to keep up forever” leads me to suspect that looking for any sort of “quick n’ easy fix” is just another symptom of lazy scarcity thinking rather than a paradigm shift towards freedom…)
… and makes me think that the Online version of Trek Education is something I’m going to have to look at a little more seriously in the near future. ;o)
… of course I need to clear a place to engage that structure first, which is challenge #1 when it feels like my plate is already too full, and comes back to the heart of this whole post.
Hmmm. Thank you for your sharing Wilma. This has opened up an interesting conversation at my end also. Because I work from home now trading the markets my work is strictly focused on psychology and the money conversation etc. For the most part I am very positive and enjoy daily manifesting, meditating blah blah. Janai has concerns around money that could affect my explanation and sometimes it does. I have noticed that it tends to creep up on me and before I know it my week looks cynical and unproductive.
Just over the past few months I have noticed how much impact doom and gloom can have on me. I am constantly assessing and watching out for the signs. And boy it ain’t easy.
Funny this is that if my wife and I were totally aligned theres always plenty of stuff outside of ourselves ready to pounce on us if we even look happy.
Thanks for the post, I like where it’s leading my mind to wander.
Since my marriage was based on an opposites-attract thing, we rarely lived in sync, and someone always seemed to have been out of her (most of the time) or his thought cycle. I wonder if this is just another way that the attraction thing wears off, there is too much friction against your very nature and how you interact with the world?

@ Michael. Yes, the always what to do first question. Do I make time to learn to make time.
, was wondering what was happening at your end.
Michael, you know what to do, make time to learn to make time!
See you on the next intake of LIA on line!
The online version is actually a very easy way to come back to the Leverage & You principles, no traveling, the gold is just a keyboard away in your own time.
And thanks for your lovely comments
@Blair, I quote;
“Janai has concerns around money that could affect my explanation and sometimes it does. I have noticed that it tends to creep up on me and before I know it my week looks cynical and unproductive. ”
That is it, you are so spot on and it is so easily done and so NOT easily dealt with.
But so good that you keep being steadfast and keep noticing, great stuff, Blair
Hi Laura, lovely to meet up again.
I don’t know about that opposite attracts opposite.
I did find my ex husband’s different explanations interesting when I first met him, it was so different. But somehow there needs to be a way to find an explanation that sits well with both parnters and can give joy and peace of mind to each one. That is often not easily done and wouldn;t you say that then trust comes in and patience and a lot of talking?
Thanks for you comment, Laura, love Wilma
Hilarious – was just listening to Abraham Hicks talking about investment, and about how “leverage” is the best tool for making money as a self-employed person. The very words! Can’t say I’ve absorbed this lesson, but constant appreciation and gratitude seems to keep the gates open. And completing the chores that I procrastinate on.
Hey Kath, yes I think we know actually very little about leverage as the whole world is not geared at making things leverageable for us mere mortals. I belief we are still being lived by corporations, banks and government and have little chance to learn about leverage. If your work in employement is done for the day, you cannot leverage it by going home to just give a small example.
However you are learnig at a great rate now you are self employed.
Go Kath, go, and yes leverage is also about doing practical things in teh now as completing things. You are also a wonderful graduate of Leverage & You
