Playing team with the universe. Mental fitness paying off.
When you are getting yourself in a new regime of mind fitness, it is great to meet people who are obviously enjoying a higher level of mental fitness.
This will show you the pay offs of doing mind gym, which is very encouraging.
So I will share my experience of having lunch with somebody like that the other day.
This friend is going to do what a lot of us probably wish we would but never could.
She is selling up and going to do what she wants to do and that is travel and write.
What is so delightful is that once she made that decision the universe was on her side big time and I sat with my jaw on the table listening to her fascinating stories about playing team with her ‘friends in high places’.
At Life Leverage we talk about structures that exist in our life and we invite people to have a look if those major things, relationships still serve us or if they dominate us instead.
My friend attended this course.
Well during the course it became clear to her that her lovely house was actually no longer serving her to live in but cashed in it would serve her enormously.
To sell the family home, pack up and go is of course a big scary step, but the more she thought about it the more the idea became attractive and with that the miracles started to unfold.
Now I must start with saying that she talks to the universe as if they are her team mates and she tells them what she wants them to do while she gets on her with her own ‘to do’ list.
So she gets the word out amongst her network that she wants a painter to do up the house, and even if at the best of times it is hard to get one, there is a painter prepared to come at very short notice.
What teamwork!
While all this happened, her work contract got extended so she didn’t have to look for other work while her house was a mess. Now she of course has done her part by being very good at what she does but the universe obviously also played along.
When her house was ready, the real estate market slumped a bit. However she didn’t whine about that, she got on with putting it on the market and trusted that she would get a fair price even if it wouldn’t be as high as she would have hoped.
Here she played her part in not being greedy and accepting what is so without going into the negative.
She also didn’t let her own thoughts bully her that she was crazy to start all this in the first place and that it wasn’t going to work out.
In the mean time she too went on a two weeks holiday inviting her daughter and thus being generous to herself and her lovely daughter.
While away in tropical weather she really got a sense of what is possible.
She got to see that life without a house and car is not that expensive in certain parts of the world.
She got to see how traveling and writing was absolutely doable.
Over there she connected with some great people she could use as contacts if she ever wanted to go back to live for an extended period of time. She also saw a tremendous fit for her skills in the project they were running to support the local economy with high quality artifacts.
She loves art, project management and supporting local communities.
Aren’t they a team or what????
After her holiday she arrived home totally fired up with possibilities to find the house not sold yet, her work contract ending and the need to sort things out financially now the big cash injection wasn’t coming.
Then a few days later on the same day she was told she wasn’t offered the job she was hoping for, the bank phoned about the extension of the mortgage and the big bill that was due came in.
Not to be fazed by all this, she talked sternly to ‘her mates in higher places’ and requested they return from their holiday.
No sooner had she called her ‘friends in high places’ back to work and the phone rang that same night.
It was the real estate agent who told her she had a firm offer on the house.
And what more, it was a young couple that absolutely adored the house and my friend was over the moon that they were buying it.
So folks, here’s how mental fitness pays off.

Hi Wilma… I hope you recognize that you also live with one of these people. ;o)
I can also see on many levels how you are very capable of making magic happen in your unique “Wilma way”. Your stand to run this blog so consistently, and to write generous stories about your own journey for the benefit and growth of the rest of us, is a big part of it.

Michael, thank you!
wilma…..thank you….the universe gave me a day off today and i just rang a place and gave them some santa injection ideas for the operation of the business….we laughed our heads off…i have been experiencing the friends in higher places on leave as well and am asking them to return today…..i had no idea it was long service leave they were taking…!!!!!!…..just called them in now…lol…watch this space…pat and thank you….yes john is that one for you as well.. i honour both of you for your journey together….
Hi Wilma,
Its really amazing what happens when you “let go of the side of the pool and swim”. What sticks out for me here in your blog is letting go of how you think it should be and just waiting and taking the necessary action once the team has done its job. It always amazes me how things always work out but not necessarily how you think they should. We are blessed but not always patient. Heres to patience.
@Pat, wouldn’t you take off on holiday if there is nobody claiming your service? Good for you to call them back….I will watch what will happen…
and yes, living with John is inspirational and mind stretching.
He even makes me do pilates now as well……
@Boyd, precisely, me too, heres to patience AND trust.
I wouldn’t mind sitting and waiting so much if I knew it would happen..but sitting and waiting while biting my nails gives me mind ulcers….
You and My Universe sure are positively inspiring – at last!
Recently a colleague with whom I was at Canterbury how ever many years ago, invited me to her meeting where I learned further about her activities – if she’s not in New York or Paris she’s back here reporting on her successes for NZ with people like Sylvia Cartwright ++ When I found I had locked in my car keys, she drove me home, and left me with a huge flagon of fresh milk and a super choco cookie package as well as info about their next meeting in 10 days time when I am to MEET our Minister of Women’s Affairs. Of particular relevance because my current developing vision, includes a list of the Ministries I am to approach and in successive order That’s just the day after my consultation appointment with the John we all know about – how best to MANAGE OUR NEW GOALs/VISION to business success …. HOWZATT !
thanks Wilma; that is inspiring… truly heart warming; thanks for sharing
cheers
@Beth, well there you have it, soon we will not blink an eyelid about those things. Go Beth go, great story.
@ Fiona, thank you too, soon you will fly big time and I will be there riding with you…
