Mike knows how to do it.

Sometimes something you read hits you right between the eyes.
This message of Mike Dooley did.
It so fits with my question how we are supposed to live according to this heralded new spiritual paradigm of ‘thoughts manifest’ as per ‘The Secret’.

Everything feels so topsy turvy; what I thought was the right way is now the wrong way.
The feeling sort of compares to driving on the other side of the road.
It is fine on a straight road, but when tired, on a round-about or when driving in reverse it all becomes difficult and confusing.

So what did Mike Dooley say?

He said;
“When your dreams of ‘end results’ are stated generally, in broad brush strokes, like wealth and abundance, friends and laughter, health and harmony, then please, by all means attach yourself to them. Attach, attach and attach. There is no limit to what you can have and no reason to expect anything less.”

He then continues;
” But when your end results are specific, like the ultimate car, or a home in the country, do not attach, do not attach, do not attach.
Material details and specifics are always ‘how’ to get to a grander picture of your life and are never important in and of themselves. They are ‘cursed hows’ disguised as end results and they are steps disguised as destinations.
By all means, think of them, put them on your vision boards to remind yourself of the kind of possessions and adventures that are your birthright.
But do not give them a greater importance -through attachment- greater than what you are truly after.
What you are truly after is a fuller, richer life with all cups running over.
When this is your end goal, the details will take care of themselves.”

So, that is what he says.

Oh, the sense it made to me!

I want a boat, but I know if that is all I want, I will be bored after a few years.
I want the boat so you can enjoy it with me. With you we both can have an experience that we will never forget.
Now that excites me.
Do you see what I am getting at here?

I want this ak-shallow-anchorage-docsize.JPG so it will be like that img_9840-people-on-deck-websize.jpg

I want that northland-hol-june07-260.jpg so it will be like this holland-ikea-delft-feb-07-120.jpg

    Thanks Wilma, great to have this stated so clearly. How I say it is “Get clear on what you really really want i.e. the qualities of life that you want, then let go of when and how that manifests” I think Esther would say – let the universe do its work.
    THen the discipline comes in – the discipline of every day choosing those qualities.

    Thank you again – great support on the journey.
    love
    Bridget

    Thanks Beth, lovely encouragement. It sometimes feel like having a rough roadmap without the details. It means you know roughly where you are going but get surprises on the way.

    Hey Bridget, it is cool to talk to fellow travellers who dare to wander. And yes, it needs focus to partner with the universe or anybody else for that matter. We are so used to travel on our own.

  5. Ah yes I love these ideas. I have long felt it is all wrong when we have a very tight and specific idea about what we want to manifest as it feels like we are trundling around in known and limited territory, only going for what we know. However when we go for a quality of life with no idea how this is to happen, except by taking the obvious first steps, then the adventure begins and how exciting it is to discover organically what it is that takes you there. This is when the possibilities are unlimited and I often find I end up with more than I could have imagined at the point of setting out. Thanks Wilma for your clear articulation of exciting ways to live life. Lorraine Blackley

    I agree, Lorraine. Sad but true that our imagination is limited, however good on the universe to have all those wonderful surprises in store for us and not getting stopped by our ’small’ talk. And good on us to slowly starting to realize it and to receive them.

    I really enjoy your blogs – they always appear in my inbox at the perfect time. You’re right – there is limited value in having all the materials if you have no loved ones around to share it with!

    Hey Dan, we can go for having it all! The material things AND the loved ones to share them with. The tragic is surrounding ourselves with lots of “structures’, material things and not having the time or people to love them with. You definitely notice structures or things that are unloved or unused. They rot!
