Hey Michael, great story about the bed, so lovely and so understandable that you want to hold on to the bed. However your clarity what the bed meant, stimulated you to share that with the future owners who now have a bed with great added value. The same is happening with the houses you renovate.
It is that added value we seldom see.

I do agree Dawn that sick people don't have to be a burden. The nature, looks, size, age, state etc of the structure doesn't neccessarily influence what prosperity comes from them. It is all in how we relate to it, which gives the power back to us. Exciting.

Hi Wilma,

Great observation on Structures!

I can personally see exactly how some of my "stuff" here in Canada had not served me while I was in New Zealand. While I was away (4.5 years), I was paying $186.05CDN / month for climate-controlled storage (climate control to protect my guitar collection). Upon my return to Canada, I emptied out my storage unit and looked at everything I'd stored. Among them was a beautiful wooden single bed that my mother gave me when I was 2 years old. I'd had it nearly all my life, but it was now going unused. We put it up online, and a family with a lovely 3 year old found it. I was sure to tell them how special it was to me, being a reminder of my mother who died when I was 8. It represented great emotional value to me, but it was time for it to be used again to restore it's functional value to someone, rather than being a physical burden to us. It has now gone to a new home to be used again, with a family who have promised to look after it with great care. While I was anticipating that these things would serve me upon my return (such as this bed for when I have a child of my own), I am now seeing how they are a burden, or that other people can better extract their value than I can right now. While many of the things have become useful to me once again, there was also just a lot of clutter that we've been reducing.

On the flip-side of the equation...

Restoring locked, lost, or hidden wealth is exactly what we do in real estate when we repair and renovate a house that has lost a significant amount of value over time for various reasons. The wealth we invest into it is multiplied by the Structure and flows back to us when we sell the house or rent it out. That's how we convert "structural and aesthetic wealth" into "financial wealth"; by first delivering massive value (through pouring energy, monetary investment, initiative, planning, action, and time) back into the property, then passing that value on to someone else to enjoy it more. Because we don't cut corners in quality or workmanship, our customers (buyers and tenants) get the lifestyle wealth of a living in a high-quality, well-finished home that we are proud to offer.

I agree that it benefits us to let go of people, places and things that don't give and take up more energy than they can give back (with the exception of people that are sick). This also opens up the space for new people, places and things.
