Communication unlocks coordinated action.
Rusty the cat meows outside in front of the cat door.
“John, the cat wants to come in”.
John gets up, opens the big sliding door, Rusty is not moving.
“Rusty, puss puss puss”. Rusty keeps cleaning herself.
John closes the door and sits down again. If only Rusty had language to coordinate action.
Wilma sits in front of the computer sighing and gritting her teeth.
“Do you want some help?”
John gets up to see what is going on, saying; “The photos are stored on the network”.
Wilma ignores John and continues to fight with the computer.
John goes back to his desk and sits down again. If only we could talk to coordinate action.
Then we do talk. In the morning:
“Boy I have got a lot on this week”.
“What?”
“Complete the accounts, sort the printer, answer emails, think of birthday presents, attend two meetings, ring a bunch of people, pay the invoices, go out on Wednesday night and sort out what to have for dinner when we have visitors.”
“Can I help; do you want to make a list?”
“No, not really, you don’t know anything anyway and most of the time help makes it worse and you know how I feel about lists. I am better off doing it all myself.”
In the evening:
“Boy am I stressed. I never get it all done and you’re no help!”
We then turn away from each other and go to sleep. If only we could listen to coordinate action.
Then we read books on how to use language to create an abundant life:
“Great that book about scarcity isn’t it?”
“Yeah, but I didn’t have time to do the exercises”.
“Well, you will have time once we arrive at the hotel”.
“Yeah, about the hotel, don’t you think we should have gone for the one closer to the beach? It was a bit dearer but it did look great and we would have had a view.
Hey, you are a bit quiet all of a sudden, cheer up we are on holiday! You should be grateful; you know we actually couldn’t afford to go away, so please enjoy.”
We then wonder what happened, what is wearing us out; we are reading the right books after all?
So do we ever communicate to happily coordinate action and experience abundance? NOT OFTEN, most of the time we might as well just meow.
I am starting to realise that I am causing damage with my ordinary words. The above are variations based on my own careless daily use of words. This holds in existence my belief in scarcity and it certainly doesn’t lead to coordinated actions and abundance. Swear words are not the only words that damage; speaking carelessly in scarcity language is equally risky.
Focus on speaking with good purpose and stopping scarcity talk is the key to coordinated action and abundance. If you belief you are abundant enough to have time to read, in the book ‘Four Agreements‘ you will find more about speaking with good purpose.

I totally relate Wilma. This is my big challenge to bring the actions of abundance into all the nitty gritty areas of my every day life, like family communications. How much this is not so certainly shows up when I am busy and under stress.
I find it amazing how much attention my speaking deserves. It sometimes feels like the intense training a top sporter is going through to perform at their best.
At least I am allowed a glass of wine at the end of my training.
I can fully understand what you are saying Wilma. I can remember saying some of those things myself. I especially resonate with the wanting to do everything myself and then getting stessed about everything I have to do. I need to watch my communication carefully.
Delegation, delegation, who would ever think that that is hard.
Yes but reading is only “idle knowledge” until it is adopted by us and put into everyday, regular practice. This is difficult and challenging and requires fundamental transformation but starts by observation as in your very illustrative post, Wilma.
I found this on the prosperity from the inside out website http://www.choosingprosperity.com and I couldn’t say it any better myself. So here is the quote:
Unfortunately, understanding and appreciating something on an intellectual level is vastly different from being able to
live a new philosophy on a daily basis. As we are striving to incorporate our new views into our everyday lives we will
undoubtedly encounter challenges and face confusion. The people who are surrounding us may or may not understand what we are going through. Often we find ourselves yearning for connection with someone who has already successfully navigated the course that we are on and who is inspired to share the insights he/she received on the journey. This is especially true when we are ready to make a major change in our lives. Fortunately our inner guidance system usually responds by drawing to us perfectly aligned people, ideas and opportunities to help us fulfill our deepest intentions and desires. This is the experience of miracle consciousness.
